Recently my new friend Marcus, whom I met at the La Terraza Guest House B&B while staying there, invited me out for coffee one Friday morning. Marcus is a really cool guy who had been touring Costa Rica from north to south and was back in Grecia for a couple of days before returning home to Switzerland. He picked me up at my house in his rental SUV, and I suggested going down to the town center to visit Café Delicias, which I had heard some good things about.
The first thing we needed to do as we approached the café was find a parking space. We found one within a few blocks’ walk. At the café, we ordered coffee and pastries before sitting at a table with a good vantage point for people watching. Costa Rica has some of the prettiest ladies (senoras mas bonitas) I’ve ever seen—and I’m from California, so that’s saying a lot. The parade of locals made the rich Costa Rican coffee all the more enjoyable.
Marcus and I enjoyed the friendly, talkative, early morning crowd that had gathered in the open-air restaurant. Stacy, one of the girls (las chicas) working there, and her co-worker were very friendly and personable. Café Delicias will undoubtedly become one of my favorite places to visit in the town center, whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just the rich aromatic sweetness of Costa Rican coffee.
