I met Ivo Hefling, owner of GoDutch Realty—a leading Costa Rica real estate company—on an early Sunday morning during breakfast at the Autentico Hotel in San Jose back in April 2019 while on Chris Howard’s Tour of Costa Rica. It was our group’s last full day in Costa Rica, and we were about to head up to Atenas and Grecia. I was very excited because I’d heard so many good things about Grecia and wanted to see the town for myself. We arrived in Atenas first, and a couple of Ivo’s agents joined us to give us a mini-tour and show a few properties. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to see any properties in Grecia, and I must say that I was a little disappointed.
After returning home to California, I went online and visited their website and started searching for rental properties in Grecia, where I had decided to make my home. After several months of looking at various rental properties, I contacted Karina Ugalde via email and inquired about a rental house that had caught my attention. It was a nice little house located on one of the 5 ridges of Grecia. Karina informed me that the house didn’t have hot water (agua caliente), but she believed she could find something more suitable. I explained the kind of house and location I was looking for, and Karina didn’t disappoint. In fact, she exceeded my expectations. A couple days later she sent me an email with a video and details of a great looking rental house, and I immediately reserved it before returning to Costa Rica. It’s been a year already, and I’ve settled in and am still enjoying my rental, which is perfect for me and my esposa.
